Experiencing Gatlinburg in the Fall

fall.jpgWhy do people visit Gatlinburg in the fall, you may ask? The yearly drama of the fall colors means something different to everyone. To couples it means romance. To kids it means playing in the leaves. To friends it means a place for making memories. But to everyone it means something special that only happens once each year. This mini guide will help you discover some of the special activities you can enjoy this time of year.

Celebrate with Gatlinburg's Smoky Mountain Harvest Festival The Smoky Mountain Harvest Festival is the hub of this activity, and we offer more information about that here:

Smoky Mountain Harvest Festival

September 12, 2014 - October 31, 2014

Fall is a joyful season in Gatlinburg. Everywhere you look color dazzles your eyes and people have a buoyant spring in their step. The merry atmosphere is reflected in all the shops that decorate for the season. Spend a day chatting with artisans from all over the country at the 39th Annual Craftsmen's Fair (October 9 through 26, 2014) at the Gatlinburg Convention Center. Visit the Arts & Crafts Community and see over 100 different local artisans presenting their crafts and techniques to the public. Not only can you watch the artists weave, create pottery, make candles, demonstrate quilting skills and much more, the artists offer their wares for sale, too. You'll discover that many of the artisans learned their crafts from relatives who passed the skills down through the generations.

We recently wrote a post about all of the festivals, fairs and activities that Gatlinburg celebrates in the fall. Be sure to check it out for all the details about OktOBERfest at Ober Gatlinburg, the Winter Magic Kickoff/ Chili Cook Off, Taste of Autumn and much more.
